My approach to beta reading comes from a place of helpfulness. I want to see the writers I read for succeed and make their story the best it can be.
I’ve been beta reading for five years. I started out swapping manuscripts with other romance writers as a way to support each other and grow. Since then, I've honed my skills, giving feedback to authors across the romance and fantasy genres that is both constructive and encouraging. |
My feedback style
I am a reactionary reader so I'll comment on things the characters do (good or bad). I ask questions based on how you've set up the world to make sure the characters are behaving in a way that is "logical" for what you've created. I'll point out plot holes, character inconsistency, and pacing, while making sure my suggestions maintain your author voice. Beta reading is not a replacement for editing. If there are glaring grammar issues, I'll comment, but it's not my main focus. Most of my feedback will be found in the document, but you'll also get an email write up summarizing the main points. Pricing & Turnaround time $2.50 per page (12pt Times New Roman font, 1.5 spacing) Turnaround time is usually 5-7 business days depending on length 50% deposit due at time of booking *Optional 1-hr Zoom call to discuss feedback and/or brainstorm for an additional $55 Genres All romance & erotica (contemporary is preferred) Urban Fantasy Information needed In your initial email, please tell me the genre, page count, any content warnings, and a brief synopsis.
