The Making of a Series

Happy Friday, folks. Since Love on Madison Island is my first planned series, I wanted to take you on the journey with how it came about.

Madison is my first *planned* series meaning I went into book one knowing I'd have others coming after it. All my other connected books started out as a one off. I like to try new things when I write, hit up tropes I may not have done, things like that.

When I decided on Madison, my first thought was I wanted the town to be fictional. My other books are set in real cities, but I wanted more creative freedom by making up my own. What I learned in that process is I'm not very good at worldbuilding LOL, but thank goodness for my editor and beta readers to help me along with that.

The next thing I knew was I wanted all the female leads to be in my age group, 40+. So many romances are with the younger generation and I wanted to lend my voice to the "seasoned" romance crowd. Age doesn't mean someone has their life together. New love, career, and other life changes can happen later in life and I wanted to showcase that with these books.

Not only did I center the books around the town, but I built the idea based off the friendship of the three leads. I've always liked having friends shown in one way or another in my books, so this wasn't a hard step for me to accomplish. As people grow, change, and move around, friendships can often fall by the wayside.

Cynthia, Regina, and Irene have been friends since childhood. They've been through a lot together and even after two of them moved away, they made an effort to keep in touch and nurture the relationship. Because just like a romantic one, a platonic relationship also requires work from all parties. It's a give and take and that is something I wanted to come through in each story.

Like with my Desert Rose Hook-ups series, each book in Love on Madison Island will follow a different trope. Renovation of Love is a second chance. It was my first time writing that, and boy was it a learning curve. But in the end, it's a story that I'm proud to put out.

Heat of Love will be May/December (older woman/younger man) and Mechanics of Love will be rivals-to-lovers. Also fun fact, the titles all relate to the professions of the love interests.

There you have it. A little bit about my thought process with this upcoming series. Renovation of Love will be out on March 20th! I can't wait for you all to meet Cynthia and Marcel.

Until next time
